Abuja, Nigeria, what’s the safest place to stay?

We have decided to stay in Nigeria for a few days, in the capital of Abuja to be more precise. Now I would like to hear from some people here on the forum who have been to Abuja before. What do you think is the safest place to stay over there? Where did you stay?

When not under attack of any kind, a foreign embassy would probably be the safest place to stay in Abuja, I would say. Failing that, I would opt for the most expensive international hotel, with the best security. But actually, I would not want to go to Abuja at all, to be honest.

I must say that when I go to some foreign country I don't just want to see some expensive hotel from the inside. When go to some foreign country I go there to see the sights. I don't wanna see the inside of my own embassy either. I might as well stay in Paris in that case. What is wrong with the thrill with a little bit of danger anyway?

There is nothing wrong with a bit of danger, like seeing a lion from your Jeep while at the Serengeti national park in Tanzania for example. Being held hostage for your money by local scary people, only to end up with your head being DHL-ed back to your family, does not sound like a "fun thrill" but like a rather unpleasant experience.
