Long time ago me and my wife met during a hike organized by our mutual friends. Since then we didn’t go on any hike. Anyway we decided to make our own hike. Just the two of us. We have few options and the first one is the Andes in Argentina. So is it safe to go on a hike in mid-winter?

Well being a seasoned hiker I could tell you that the Andes are hard and rewarding. Last time I hiked there I was with some friends and it was rough. Seeing that you are not that experienced and didn’t hike for a long time I wouldn’t recommend you go on such a hard hike.

I agree totally. Hiking there in the middle of the winter is not the smartest choice. If you do want to go there be sure you go with as much experienced friends as you can. Also it would be wise to tell someone your plans and where exactly you plan to stop in case of any trouble.

If a blizzard catches you the chances you would survive is slim. Don’t forget the avalanches and any other random thing. If you are that determined to go there hire a guide. Someone who has been there and knows the dangers you may have to face. Good luck on your trip.
