Im traveling to Australia and besides Brisbane and Sydney I want to visit Cairns, the city which was built on the site first spotted by Captain Cook. Ill stay there for a couple of days because I want to go to the Great Barrier Reef. Can you advise me where to stay during my visit? I need some budget accommodation. I appreciate your help.

Great idea for a trip! This charming city is a bit underrated among tourists from other countries despite the fact that it has many things to offer. The Great Barrier Reef is only about an hour boat ride away from the city. Its climate is tropical with occasional monsoons, which means that vegetation is fertile and colorful. Nomads Serpent Resort offers very cheap accommodation from only 50AUD. Its a three-star hotel which is only a few minutes away from the airport. Its actually a backpackers resort which is also offering tours to the Great Barrier Reef. Rooms are air-conditioned and there is a swimming pool. So, being a backpacker or not, you can have a cheap and pleasant stay in this hotel.
