Can my experience in rock climbing help with ice climbing?

I like all kinds of sports though I can’t say that I am practicing any frequently. I practice walking, jogging and sometimes rock climbing. This last activity seems to be the most difficult and since I think that it is the best for body so I am thinking about trying ice climbing as well. Can my experience with rock climbing help me with it?

I think that it can surely be of use. Namely, I have read that ice climbing is a sport very similar to rock climbing and that the only difference lies in the fact that instead of climbing the rock, you climb frozen waterfalls or even some ice covered rock. From that point of view it is natural that the experience you have in rock climbing can be precious in ice climbing. Of course, I think that ice climbing is even more demanding because of slippery conditions. That is what you should pay a special attention to.

Hm, I think that experience in rock climbing can be useful for you but I can’t say that this is all you need to be able to be a good ice climber. I think that this sport is a bit more complicated and you need to be in a very good shape in order to be able to practice this activity. Anyway, don’t let this discourage you but start practicing and very soon you will learn a few useful things about this sport. You just need someone to show you the ropes.
