Can you travel to Austrailia for cheap?

Hello, there. I am from Canada and I need to visit my friend in Austrailia next month. Since I am a student, I have a limited budget. I would like to know if there is a cheap way to travel to Austrailia. Is it possible? I will appreciate all your answers. Thanks.

Howdy. You havent told us when you plan going to Australia. It isnt the same if you go in or off the season. My cousin flew to Australia in November for only $600. I think she took Toureast. It is a Canadian airline if I am right. I dont know the situation considering Australian airline companies like Qantas or Austravel. Youll have to check them.
