I think this article needs to be updated because of the effects of global warming. For example lately, in Jan/Feb heat waves are likely to last 5-6 days reaching up to 45 degrees Celcius rather than just 1 or 2 hot days. They are muchg more frequent also.
March now is warm to hot as well but not quite as extreme as the summer months. April is still warm but a few nights may see the temperature fall below 10 and a few days won't see the maximum reach 20. May to September are cool to mild and variable with temps in the mid- high teens. By October the weather starts warming up quickly again with days in the 30s reappearing and rapidly becoming frequent and then dominant by December. Regular rainfall has also decreased dramatically. The old "4 seasons in one day" adage so beloved of Melburnians no longer really applies. In 2010 and onwards, Melbourne on a typical day at any time of the year is more likely to be bright, sunny and dry with a warm - hot wind blowing from the North than anything else.
