Hello, I was wondering what is the difference between Commodore and Portswood Hotel in Cape Town. I am interested in this because in a couple of weeks time I will be traveling to South Africa with my whole family. My main interest is what are the pros and cons of each of the hotels. I wouldnt like any surprises during my stay there.

Hello, Cape Town has many social problems that are visible especially when you find yourself on the streets. There are dangers behind every corner so it is not recommendable for you to visit it without a proper guide. The hotels can seem very similar to the tourist's eye but the fact is that they all differ when you actually spend some time in them. During my stay in the Portswood hotel, I have experienced something that seemed as an non malicious act at first but turned out to be a planned crime. The maid would go into the guest's rooms pretending to be just cleaning, as usual, and if somebody by any case left their wallet, laptop or any other valuable object the maid would contact her partner who would then enter the premises and steal what was there. Commodore hotel has a higher security level then that of Portswood's and offers a nice view of the Table Mountain. My advice for you and your family would be to choose the Commodore hotel due to it's better standard regarding your own safety and the safety of your property.
