As far as domestic flights in Brazil are concerned, I would like to know which airline companies offer local flights to Salvador, and from which cities? It happened to me several times already that I wanted to fly from some towns, but it was not possible, because there was no connection.

You dont say from which towns, and you dont say when.
For now there are only a few airline companies which offer those flights, and those companies are Varig, Vasp, Gol and TAM. You can use their services to get to Salvador from Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Recife and Brasilia.

From North America, there are flights to Brazil (Rio and Sao Paulo) with Continental, Delta, American Airlines, United Airlines and Air Canada, in addition to the Brazilian carriers Tam and Varig. Tam also offers flights from Miami to Manaus as well as Salvador.
