Dear all, you did recommend Morocco to me some time ago and I paid it a short nine day visit. But this was not doing it justice and I feel I should go back for say five or six days, to focus on Marrakech. I have already a few ideas about what I could do but would appreciate whatever tips you can give me.

Marrakech is indeed worth at least five days on its own, especially if you want to take things in and appreciate. Chose one of the older traditional hotels downtown, close to the winter palace, like the king Hassan. They have more character than the "international chains" and do often provide a more attentive and personalised service. From your recce visit, you will know what you should not miss: the various royal buildings, the great mosque which can be visited at times, the souks and the national museum with its very interesting historical section. Every evening try a different restaurant and a different dish, your hotel will be able to point you in the right direction! And don't forget the mint tea, the water merchants and the ambulant entertainers... As usual, some caution is advisable in crowded places but there are no specific safety threats in Marrakech.
