How do I reach downtown San Jose from SFO?

My friends invited me to spend some time in San Francisco with them which I plan to do next month. Still, I have a plan of going to San Jose downtown from SFO first, just to check out the place. When my friends get their hands on me, I know we wont see much, except for the beers and pubs. So, how do I get to San Jose from SFO?

I would always recommend driving by a car or motorcycle (even better solution), but I have to admit that the safest way would be to use public transportation (cant get lost in that way). Just take a Millbrae Bart train to the Millbrae Station (I think the ride lasts only 5 minutes). From there get to Caltrain or a bus and head south.

Like 1st and Santa Clara St area? Take the 22 westbound to San Jose Diridon Station, or on a weekday, take the free DASH shuttle.
