How long it takes from Rio to Sao Paolo?

I visited Brazil a few years ago, but I was there doing business and couldnt have time to see Rio as much as I wanted. Now I have the opportunity to do it again, but unfortunately I have only four days, again, the business is a reason of my visit. Im interested how long it takes from Rio to Sao Paolo and which way to go is the best, because I will steal some of my work time to see Sao Paolo because Ive heard there are many nice things to see.

It takes about 220miles (340km) to reach Sao Paolo from Rio de Janeiro. In Rio there are two modern airports, Galea for domestic and international services and Santos Dumont for domestic travel. There are also railway links to Sao Paolo, but their daily services are limited. I know that privately owned bus services are main means of public transportation inside the city, but I suppose it is the same also between the cities. Airports in Sao Paolo are Congonhas within the city, Cumbicas which is 15 miles east and Viracopos, 60 miles northwest. I think it is the best to use airplane to reach both cities, but if you like to see the countryside and be among ordinary people then use the train or bus.

Hi... fine answers, but perhaps you might want to consider a flight.. 40 minutes, and gets you from downtown Rio, to somewhat central Sao Paulo. These days you can get a very good deal on Varig Airlines.
