How safe is Turks and Caicos for gay tourists?

The destination that I am interested in these days, and which sounds more and more attractive for my summer holiday this summer is Turks and Caicos, but I would like to hear if it is a gay friendly destination, and how safe are gay tourists there. So, if there is anyone with some good or bad opinion, or experience, I would appreciate to hear it.

Well, even though they claim they are one of the gay friendly destinations, the truth is a bit different. Up until recently there were even some protests against gay tourists, so based on what I got the chance to see on the television and read in the newspapers, I would not really agree that the gay tourists are safe there.
