How safe is the Caracas airport?

Hello! I am about to set off for Ecuador within few days but the thing is that I need to make some short stop in Caracas at the airport but it sounds terrifying to me at this moment so that is why I need some info on how safe is the Caracas airport? Anyway I am supposed to spend the entire night almost up to the 7.10 a.m. when I have a flight to Quito. Thanks much!

I have a friend that stayed one night at Caracas airport and my advice is not to go for some walk outside the airport and about the rest she told me everything was safe and pretty much ok it is just that some people from her group went on a walk to some park from the other side of the airport and they got rubbed and stayed out of all the documents and money-real trouble!!! So be in a group and don't get too far away and just as a precaution try not to sleep for who knows –maybe someone happens to be there to get your bag.

It probably isnt. I have friends in Venzuela and they say if you are a US Citizen you should probably stay home since Chavez has villified the US so much.
