Hello, folks. I am planning a trip to Washington DC with my family. We will stay for a week or maybe more. I havent been there before, so I would like to ask for your help. In which area would you recommend us to stay in DC? We will appreciate all your suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Hello to you too. There are several areas which could be good for you. If the money isnt a problem, then I would suggest you to stay in downtown. And it would be preferable to choose some area between the White House and the Convention Center. You will be close to restaurants and other sights of DC. You can also consider Chinatown or Penn Quarter neighborhood. Dupont Circle is also interesting. It isnt far away from the sights by metro ride. In that area you will discover Capitol Hill, Woodley Park and Foggy Bottom. I think Ive given you some good suggestions. I hope they be useful for you. Good luck!

Crystal City is perfectly safe. It's pretty much a sterile community of large high-rise hotels, apartment buildings, condos and office towers. It actually looks like a bustling city from afar, but there's very little street life or retail when you actually get into it. There is an underground mall with a Metro station which will take you to downtown DC (near the White House) in around 12 minutes. While there's nothing particularly noteworthy within walking distance from your hotel, it's in a pretty good location.
