Is 7 days enough to see Venice?

My boyfriend and I can’t wait out upcoming trip to Italy. We are going on our own, without agents and we need some help from those who visited Italy before. Thing is, we planned to stay in Venice for seven days and then continue to the south, but we keep hearing that it won’t be enough time. What’s your opinion about this?

You did not say what are your interests, but I assume that you will be interested in main tourist attractions just like most people that come to Venice. In my opinion, seven days is the right amount of days for Venice, which allows you to explore a bit on your own apart from main points of interests. If you are only interested in main attractions, you could even spent less time on Venice.
