Is it safe to go to Ethiopia with family now?

We are a family of adventurers and we like to get our kids used to wilderness and nature. That is why all our vacations have some kind of aim and they are usually very well planned. This year we want to explore Ethiopia but we know that there were some problems with Eritrea. Is it safe to go to Ethiopia with family now?

It is true that there was a war in Ethiopia over Eritrea, but the fact is that this war lasted from 1998 to 2000. Nowadays Eritrea is an independent state and there are no more clashes on that front. From that point of view it is safe to go to Ethiopia with a family, but there is something else I’m worried about. Namely, as you know the sanitary situation in Ethiopia is very bad and there are numerous infectious and contagious diseases and one should be very careful when visiting it. Adults are capable of taking care about themselves, but kids can be problematic because no matter how hard you try you can’t keep an eye on them all the time.
