Is there a train connecting HK-Beijing?

I have booked a vacation in Hong Kong for next month. I will be staying there for a week, but since I have one week available after that, I wanted to go to Beijing and get to know it. I would also like to take the train so I could see that beautiful country from up-close. However, I am not sure whether there is train connecting the two places. If anyone could tell me, it would be great.

You are pretty adventurous when you want to travel such distance by train. How adventurous you are exactly, you will come to know the minute you see the train you have to board. It is not that its not safe. It is, but it also looks and feels like a third-class train. That could make your trip a bit harder, but if you enjoy looking various landscapes during the ride, you probably will not have too much problems. Also, be prepared for some 25 hours of riding. Sometimes it can take even a few hours longer, but never under that time. The train is not too expensive, so price of the ticket should not be a problem.

: Hong Kong has an excellent rail network, connecting it to mainland China. Regular trains run between Kowloon Canton Railway Hong Kong and Guangzhou, Dongguan, Foshan, Shanghai and Beijing, the capital city of China. If you love long train journey, you can take the Trans-Siberian Railway from Europe to Beijing and then on to Hong Kong.
