Is travelling inside Mexico a good idea?

I want to do something different this summer. I am thinking to spend it traveling trough Mexico. But my friends are trying to convince me not to do that. They think that it is very dangerous, and that there is high percent of crime there. So now I ask you: Is traveling inside Mexico a good idea?

I have never spend summer like that. It sounds like very good idea. And maybe it is the best way to get to know some country. Is traveling inside Mexico a good idea? Well, I really dont know. It is safe like traveling trough any other country. At least I think. We live like only our country is safe, and the others are dangerous. It is unsafe to bath in the bathroom, or to cross the street. And we do this things every day. So, I am suggesting you, that if you really want to go there, just go. Dont listen other people. Because people are always making things bigger than they really are.
