Italy-Train Services

I'm planning to hop around a couple of cities in Italy using the train but I can't seem to find a proper map which shows the schedule or pricing. I tried to randomly search for trains travelling between different cities at different times but they always say it's not available. Is there some schedule that I can buy in Italy, like map for trains? Help!

Just show up at the train station. Train travel in Italy is totally different from the U.S. Trains are coming and going everywhere all the time. So, if you plan to "hop around" then just hop at whim. You can buy in some local shop book called Italian rail map with all the maps and stations in Italy, including islands! If you cant find anything that might help, contact Italian AAA and ask for maps, they must have them!
