I have heard that Inca Trial involving visit to Machu Picchu is just an incredible but at the time I was discovering Peru Inca Trail was too expansive for me so I decided to have an alternative opt and so I went on an organized Lares tour. Anyway Magical Cuzco is the tour operator I referred to and they have organized it all from the very moment I landed on Lima International airport where from they took our group to the hotel in the Center of Lima and the day after we visited all important spots in Lima. Anyway this Lares tour lasts 9 days and it involves visit to Cuzco with the professional guide of course and I loved hiking through these areas as well as I like Cancha Cancha trek through all those valleys following some small river there. Anyway this Lares tour also includes visit to Ollantaytambo and you hit the Macchu Picchu from there. Anyway I know that Inca Trail is difficult to book for but if you decide on having Lares tour you won't mistake also.

Well it really depends on what you are looking for in your peru vacations...

The Inca Trail is the classic trail over the original "inca road" to Machupicchu, arriving at the Intipunku (Sun Gate) for the sunrise over Machupicchu.

In this trail there are lots of all the archeological sites, that you would miss doing lares... and if you are so interested in Peru's history and the Inca civilization you should do this one.
