Narrowing down hotels in Costa Rica

Sometimes, narrowing down hotels could be a real boring thing! My wife and I are planning to visit Costa Rica and decided to check hotel offers via Internet. And there are so many information, reviews and ratings that I cannot even decide where to start from. Also, many hotels have both good and bad reviews, which also puts us into dilemma. What would you suggest us?

I can only recommend you a hotel where I have been staying at, The Best Western Irazu, it is very near to San Joses downtown, but still away from the crowd and traffic chaos. There are 325 rooms to choose from, and two big pools. I have to admit that this might not be the most luxury place but it has everything a tourist needs.
