Night spectacles on Ipanema beach?

Are there any forum participants here who have been to Ipanema beach in the past? We are due to go this month, and I can't wait! I have heard that there are some great night spectacles on the beach over there. What was your impression of those, and what can I expect?

You have always got "street performers" on the beach at night. They play games with fire, and do other tricks, and perform street theatre. This tends to get rather busy, but hey, it is fun and it is free as well! Also, there are some great beach bars which make the perfect spot to enjoy things like these.
