We are going to be visiting Kansas City in January and I have a question for you all about the transport possibilities over there. This is important for me because I am not going to be having a car. But I have heard that there is no subway transport in Kansas City? Is that true?

That is true, but there is a very good local bus service that gets you basically anywhere. There are different passes you can get for different amounts of time, and I think that this is a good option. It takes a while to get around by bus, but their network is very extensive so that is a bonus.

They also have some JO service over there that lets you get out of the city as well if you need to do so. But if I have to be honest, Kansas City has poor transport and if you are going to have to rely on it all the time while you are there, it is going to be a huge pain in the neck!

But... Kansas City has got its good sides as well so don't worry about that! There are lots of things to see and do and the city is quite charming. Perhaps you could consider renting a car or taking taxis wherever you can - this is expensive but also much more convenient.
