Renting a car in Costa Rica

Has anyone rented a car in Liberia or anywhere else in Costa Rica? Any advice or tip for renting? I heard that there are a lot rent car agencies like Avis, Dollar Costa Rica, Easy Car Costa Rica, Toyota Rent Costa Rica and some others, but prices are almost the same for each of these agencies. If anyone have experience with renting a car in Costa Rica, please help, because I dont have money for unexpected costs!

Yes I did last June. Pretty much all the major international and national car rentals have agencies in the area. The only trick about renting a car in CR is to carefully inspect the car and note every possible scratch and nick when you are asked to check out the car. Otherwise there could be a substantial damage charge. Be extremely careful and try to get car without any damages.
