Howdy. My faculty financed me a trip to Iran to go and study Persian there for a while. I have never been in Iran and I dont know what to expect there. I hoped Id find help here. Maybe you can tell me something about the way of life there. Is it dangerous? Is it true that I cant use my credit cards there? Will I be suspicious to the authorities there? I hope youll me encourage a little. Thanks.

You dont need to worry a lot. First of all, you are a student who is going there to study Persian. You have your papers and that will be enough for you. I suppose you will be situated in Teheran. It is a large city with about 15 million people. It is true that you cant use your credit cards, but you wont have to bring all your money with you. Inform your family or friends to send your money occasionally. You can even attend some parties in northern Teheran. I hear they are awesome. But dont be drunk there, or use drugs. It can be very dangerous. Avoid all political gathering there. It is not of your business and it could only get you into trouble. I hope youll enjoy your staying there.
