As much as I know the visa is not very easy to get. Ok, it is not very hard either. You will need patience and a good behavior on the border. So, you can get visa on the border. In order to get visa you will have to be nice to guards and employees there. IF you are acting bed they will ignore you probably. They can even make you problems. It is always good to be nice to guards on the border. But your friend probably has experience with this things, so he will advice you what to do. Maybe he knows someone on the border, then you will get visas easier.
