Traveling to Manaus

Hello, I am traveling to Manaus with my family late this month and I wanted a couple of advice from you guys (if anyone has visited Manaus recently), like what things to do, where to stay and dine out? Is it possible to take one-day trips? Our kids are pretty small, and I am sure they will stand out only one day trips! Thanks very much
