Hi to you all. My boyfriend is taking me on safari next month in South africa. I am so excited! Obviously, I have already starting to pack. But I am at a bit of a loss. What shoes does one wear on safari? I suppose stilettos wouldn't be very appropriate, but what else? Please help me out of this terrible dilemma!

I am glad you asked me about what shoes one wears on safari! Stilletos, defintely no, sorry! You'd only sink the heels in the ground and get torn to pieces by thorns or eaten alive by insects! On safari you will be walking on fairly loose soil, often sandy, for lengthy periods of time, in a very natural and even pristine environment. Thus be soft on your spine (very low heels or even better, flat soles). Be comfortable and protected (high ankle shoes of thick but supple leather, or very strong canvas and rubber shoes). And be practical! In the evening some "nikes" will suffice for dinner and after dinner, but don't forget the insect repellant!
