What are security levels at rented villas?

Hi, we are thinking of renting one of them private villas on the Bahamas. We will be with a group of six people, and want to stay there for the week. As we are bringing our valuables with us, we are if course hoping not to get robbed. After all when you stay at a hotel, they are insured and if your room gets broken into they will refund. what is the security level like at private villas and how about the insurance?

As long as you lock the door when you go out, usually the security is excellent and often these places do have security cameras as well. As for the insurance, since they are renting the place out to you they are a business and as such as obligated to be insured. That is not to say that you should not be taking responsibility for your own property and take out travel insurance as well.
