What else can you do in Cairo besides visiting the museums?

My girlfriend wants us to go to Cairo and spend our vacation there. It is a beautiful city, but it somehow seems to me that all you can do there is visit museums and historical landmarks. That can be interesting for a day or two, but holiday should be fun and my idea of fun is not witnessing how time brings about dilapidation.

This is an interesting point of view. Youre probably wondering why people are so amazed at the sight of the Sphinx when its nose is crumbled, or why they spend hours in the sizzling hot desert observing pyramids when theyre just huge graves. Cairo does have other more contemporary spots that you can visit, but I think that with your attitude and interests you should go to Las Vegas and have an awesome vacation under the neon lights. I think there is even a replica of the Sphinx there, so why bother coming to Egypt, when the one in Vegas is brand new and maybe even has a whole nose.
