What's water like in Cancun?

Hi there! I am going to spend summer holiday in Cancun with my two sons. Everything went fine with our preparations, but now I have heard that something is wrong with water over there, and I am not sure if drinking only bottled version would be safe enough. Do you know anything about it? Any tip would do. Thank you.

I heard about problems with water infrastructure over there as well, but I was drinking only battled water while I was in Cancun and I had no problems. As far as I am informed locals also drink bottled water. Hotels have their own systems which purify water, so I believe that visitors are safe in hotel district. I have avoided drinks served with ice too. However, I fell in love with the place, had the time of my life, get used to bottled water easily, and forgot the issue until I saw it now.
