What would Ghana be like as a holiday destination?

I've been to Africa 3 times. Once to Kenya(Mombasa) in '05 and Zambia twice(mostly Copperbelt and Lusaka). This is just wishful thinking at the moment, but if I ever get the chance to go to Africa again I'd consider Ghana as a possible destination. I've met a couple of people from there who were nice and heard that the people are very friendly. So what is it like? Is there political stability there? I know some African countries do have political and tribal conflicts that mean I wouldn't even consider going there. But I saw a holiday programme on tv a few years ago that featured Ghana as one of the more exotic destinations, and the tourist locations did look good. I've had shots before going to Kenya and Zambia and my local pharmacy provides good malaria prevention on prescription.
