When is the tourist season in Sandpoint?

When is the tourist season in Sandpoint? I always wanted to go there, and I think I can make it this year. The only problem is to choose the right time, and I could use some help with that. When is the best time to visit Sandpoint? What is your experience?

I guess it all depends on what do you prefer, summer or winter. The tourist season in Sandpoint lasts all year around. In the summer you have Lake Pend Oreille, one of the largest lakes in the country and in the winter there’s Schweitzer Mountain Resort. Sandpoint is very fortunate that way.

I personally prefer winter in Sandpoint. There are so many things you can do in winter. Ski at Schweitzer Mountain Resort, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, you name it, we got it. But the best thing is snowmobile driving, I just can’t get enough of it. Winter is the best season in Sandpoint.

You can keep you winter. I mean, it is nice and interesting, but it’s too cold. Summer on the other hand, is great. The lake is beautiful in the summer, plus lots of people come to Sandpoint then from all over the country. And of course, the most important thing, fishing.

The first feel of winter comes to Sandpoint typically in late September, when light snow dusts the surrounding mountaintops above 5,000 feet. But indian summer settles quickly into the community and surrounding countryside as the snow melts and warm, pleasant days often continue into November. Following the autumn departure of the ospreys from Lake Pend Oreille, bald eagles return to the lake for the winter season, and when snow begins falling in earnest in late November and early December, Sandpoint's winter sports season begins.
