Where can one stay in Iceland?

Hi! Ill visit Island this October with my boyfriend. We dont know a thing about the country or the people, except some things about the lakes and geysers. Can we expect some decent accommodation, or are there some standard civilized hotels? Any information would be great for us. Thank you.
