backpackin through scandinavia

Every year I travel to another place in order to have a completely new backpacking experience. This year Ive decided to go to Scandinavia. So, what about the climate there, because I reckon its pretty cold even during the summer? What are the basic things I have to know about backpacking in Scandinavia? All the useful tips that you could come up with would be great.

Ive never been there, but I believe that weather is cold almost all the time. I dont like a harsh climate so I avoid a polar circle when I go backpacking. Also, the terrain in Scandinavia is pretty rough and one probably must be physically ready to endure it. But I still dont get why you wouldnt go somewhere else, because backpacking in Scandinavia sounds like an extreme challenge. Imagine the additional equipment youd have to carry, winter clothes and everything else that would make your backpack overweight. Would you be able to walk with all that baggage on your back? I just dont see the point in that. Instead of feeling relaxed and full of energy after your backpacking trip, youd feel exhausted and tired.
